On the evening of Friday 21st October, we saw the incredible Riddel's Warehouse come to life again in order to celebrate the RSUA's Architecture Night 2022. A remarkable survival from industrial 19th century Belfast, the four-storey ironmongery warehouse built for John Riddel & Co in 1867, was alive with talent from across the country.
Welcomed by lively local musicians, attendees were able to explore the historic buildig before the main event kicked off, hosted by BBC's Mark Simpson.
Andrew Haley, Director of the Paul Hogarth Company and chair of the Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) on Architecture and the Built Environment was welcomed as the newest Honorary member of the RSUA.
The Best in School Awards at Undergraduate went to Thomas Crowe (UU) and Malgorzata Migut (QUB) with Malgorzata picking up the Bronze Medal. Best in School at Postgraduate was awarded to Zoë Gibson (UU) and Matthew Graham (QUB). Zoë won the Silver Medal.
To wrap up the awards, the winner of the 2022 Early Career Design Competition was announced. The winning team consisted of Alice Gordon, Cathal Crumley, Cormac McCartney and Hayden Allen. The plans were also announced for next year’s Early Career Design Competition.
Congratulations to all involved for a great night enjoyed by all!
